Joane Gadou’s Defensive Profile: Power, Pace and Potential

Borussia Dortmund recently completed the signing of Joane Gadou from Red Bull Salzburg for a reported fee of about 20 million euro + potential add-on’s.

He imposes himself with a towering frame (6’5” / 1.95m) and a highly aggressive approach to defending. As you can see from this footage, he wants to physically dominate his opponent and doesn’t shy away from challenges. Now, as you can also gather, he can be reckless and needs to grow in terms of picking his moments to engage with such aggression.

I will likely create a part 2 to this video and focus on his on-ball qualities, but this one is exclusively about his defending.
